Dosage Information
Adult Dose
The standard adult dosing for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis is 40 mg every other week. For Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, the initial dose is 160 mg on Day 1, followed by 80 mg two weeks later (Day 15), then 40 mg every other week.
Pediatric Dose
For juvenile idiopathic arthritis, the dose is based on weight: 10 kg to <15 kg: 10 mg every other week; 15 kg to <30 kg: 20 mg every other week; ≥30 kg: 40 mg every other week.
Side Effects
Common side effects include injection site reactions, upper respiratory infections, headache, rash, and nausea.
Contraindications & Precautions
Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to adalimumab or any of its components. Use with caution in patients with active infections, tuberculosis, or demyelinating diseases.
Important Warnings
Serious infections, including tuberculosis and opportunistic infections, have been reported. There is an increased risk of malignancies, including lymphoma. Monitor for signs of infection during and after treatment. Use with caution in patients with a history of chronic or recurrent infection.
