Dosage Information
Adult Dose
2.5 mg orally twice daily for patients with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack, or with at least two of the following: age ≥80 years, body weight ≤60 kg, or serum creatinine ≥1.5 mg/dL; otherwise, 5 mg orally twice daily.
Pediatric Dose
Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients; not recommended for use in children.
Side Effects
Common side effects include bleeding complications (e.g., gastrointestinal bleeding, hematoma), nausea, anemia, and rash.
Contraindications & Precautions
Active bleeding, severe hypersensitivity to apixaban or any component of the formulation, and severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class C).
