Class: | First-generation cephalosporin antibiotic
Use: | Treatment of bacterial infections including skin and skin structure infections, urinary tract infections, and pharyngitis/tonsillitis caused by susceptible strains of bacteria
Adult dose: | 500 mg to 1 g every 12 to 24 hours, depending on the severity and type of infection
Pediatric dose: | 25 to 50 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hours; maximum dose should not exceed adult dosing
