About Chloroquine Sulfate
            
            Class: | Antimalarial agent; Disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD)  
Use: | Treatment and prevention of malaria; treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus  
Adult dose: | 500 mg (equivalent to 12.5 mg/kg) once weekly for malaria prophylaxis; for treatment, 1 g initially, followed by 500 mg at 6, 24, and 48 hours  
Pediatric dose: | 10 mg/kg (max 600 mg) for the first dose, followed by 5 mg/kg at 6, 24, and 48 hours for malaria treatment  
Side effects: | Nausea, vomiting, 
         
        
            
                Important Warnings
