Use: | Escitalopram Oxalate (ASITALOX) 10 mg Tablets are primarily used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
The standard adult dose for major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder is 10 mg once daily. Depending on the patient's response and tolerability, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 20 mg per day.
Pediatric Dose
For adolescents aged 12-17 years with major depressive disorder, the recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 20 mg daily after a minimum of three weeks if clinically indicated.
Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, insomnia, fatigue, dry mouth, increased sweating, and dizziness. Some patients may also experience sexual dysfunction, weight changes, or headache.
Contraindications & Precautions
Escitalopram is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to escitalopram or citalopram. It should not be used concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI. It is also contraindicated in patients with congenital long QT syndrome.
Important Warnings
Escitalopram carries a black box warning for increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children, adolescents, and young adults. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of mania or seizures. Patients should be monitored for serotonin syndrome, especially during treatment initiation and dosage increases. Caution is advised in patients with a history of bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulants.
