About Haloperidol Decanoate
Class: | Antipsychotic (butyrophenone derivative)
Use: | Treatment of schizophrenia, acute psychosis, and for the management of severe behavioral problems in children and adolescents. Also used for the treatment of acute agitation in patients with schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose

Side Effects

Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to haloperidol or any component of the formulation, severe CNS depression, Parkinson's disease, and comatose states.
Important Warnings
May cause tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), and increased mortality in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis. Caution in patients with a history of seizures, cardiovascular disease, or those taking other CNS depressants. Regular monitoring for EPS and other side effects is recommended.
