About Levocetirizine Hydrochloride (Dihydrochloride)

Use: | Levocetirizine Hydrochloride is used for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) and uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Adult dose: | The standard adult dose is 5 mg once daily in the evening.
Pediatric dose: | For children aged 6 to 11 years, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg (half of a 5 mg tablet) once daily in the evening. For children aged 12 years and older, the dose is the same as adult
Uses & Indications

Storage Requirements

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
The standard adult dose is 5 mg once daily in the evening.
Pediatric Dose
For children aged 6 to 11 years, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg (half of a 5 mg tablet) once daily in the evening. For children aged 12 years and older, the dose is the same as adults, 5 mg once daily in the evening.
Side Effects
Common side effects include drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, and pharyngitis. Some patients may also experience dizziness and headache.
Contraindications & Precautions
Levocetirizine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with end-stage renal disease (creatinine clearance <10 mL/min) and those undergoing hemodialysis.
Important Warnings
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary. Patients should be warned about engaging in activities requiring mental alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, until they know how the medication affects them. Use with caution in elderly patients and those with hepatic impairment.
