About Lidocaine (In D5)

Use: | Lidocaine is used for local or regional anesthesia, including infiltration anesthesia, nerve blocks, and epidural anesthesia. It is also used for the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
Adult dose: | For local anesthesia: 5 to 300 mg (1 to 7 mg/kg) depending on the procedure; for ventricular arrhythmias: 1 to 1.5 mg/kg IV bolus, followed by 0.5 to 0.75 mg/kg every 5 to 10 minutes as needed, up to a maximum of 3 mg/kg.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose

Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other amide-type local anesthetics; severe heart block; Stokes-Adams syndrome; and in patients with porphyria.
Important Warnings
Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, heart failure, or those receiving other antiarrhythmic agents. Monitor for signs of systemic toxicity, especially in high doses or rapid administration.
