Uses & Indications

Lidocaine is used for local or regional anesthesia, including infiltration anesthesia, nerve blocks, and epidural anesthesia. It is also used for the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

For local anesthesia: 5-10 mL of 1% to 2% solution (50-100 mg) depending on the procedure. For arrhythmias: 1-1.5 mg/kg IV bolus, followed by an infusion of 1-4 mg/min.

Pediatric Dose

For local anesthesia: 0.5-5 mg/kg depending on the procedure and age. For arrhythmias: 1 mg/kg IV bolus, followed by an infusion of 1-3 mg/min.

Contraindications & Precautions
