Uses & Indications

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

For local anesthesia, the typical dose is 5-10 mL of a 1% to 2% solution (10-20 mg/mL) depending on the procedure. For arrhythmias, the initial intravenous dose is 1-1.5 mg/kg, followed by a continuous infusion of 1-4 mg/min.

Pediatric Dose

For local anesthesia, the dose is typically 5 mg/kg for infiltration, not exceeding 300 mg total. For arrhythmias, the initial intravenous dose is 1 mg/kg, followed by a continuous infusion of 1-3 mg/min.

Side Effects

Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and localized reactions at the injection site (e.g., pain, swelling).

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other amide-type local anesthetics, severe heart block, or in patients with a history of allergic reactions to lidocaine.

Important Warnings
