Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Initial dose of 50 mg once daily, may be increased to 300 mg to 800 mg per day based on clinical response and tolerability

Pediatric Dose

For schizophrenia in children aged 13-17 years, initial dose of 50 mg once daily, may be increased to 400 mg per day; for bipolar disorder in children aged 10-17 years, initial dose of 100 mg once daily, may be increased to 600 mg per day

Increased risk of mortality in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis; may cause metabolic syndrome; monitor for signs of tardive dyskinesia; risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome; caution in patients with a history of substance use disorders
