Uses & Indications

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Pre-exposure prophylaxis: 1 mL intramuscularly on days 0, 7, and 21 or 28. Post-exposure prophylaxis (previously vaccinated): 1 mL intramuscularly on days 0 and 3. Post-exposure prophylaxis (not previously vaccinated): 1 mL intramuscularly on days 0, 3, 7, and 14, with rabies immune globulin administered on day 0.

Pediatric Dose

Same as adult dosing for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis.

Side Effects

Common side effects include injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling), headache, nausea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, and dizziness.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, including neomycin, or a history of severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of rabies vaccine.
