Uses & Indications

Treatment and prophylaxis of bleeding in patients with Hemophilia A (congenital Factor VIII deficiency).

Storage Requirements

Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Do not freeze. The product can be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for a limited period, as specified by the manufacturer. Protect from light.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

The dose is individualized based on the severity of Factor VIII deficiency, the location and extent of bleeding, and the patient's clinical condition. A typical dose for minor bleeding episodes is 20-40 IU/kg, while for major bleeding, it may be 40-50 IU/kg. Prophylactic dosing is often 20-40 IU/kg administered 2-3 times per week.

Pediatric Dose

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, fever, chills, flushing, nausea, and injection site reactions. Development of inhibitors (antibodies) to Factor VIII is a significant concern.

Contraindications & Precautions

Known hypersensitivity to mouse or hamster protein or any component of the formulation. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to Factor VIII products.
