Uses & Indications

Treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, active psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis in adults; also indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in pediatric patients aged 6 years and older.

Storage Requirements

Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Do not freeze. If needed, it may be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for a maximum of 28 days.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Initial dose: 300 mg (administered as two 150 mg injections) at weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4, followed by maintenance dosing of 300 mg every 4 weeks. For patients with a significant response, a maintenance dose of 150 mg may be considered.

Pediatric Dose

For patients aged 6 years and older with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis: Initial dose: 300 mg (administered as two 150 mg injections) at weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4, followed by maintenance dosing of 300 mg every 4 weeks. For patients weighing less than 50 kg, the dose may be adjusted to 150 mg.

Side Effects

Common side effects include upper respiratory infections, headache, injection site reactions, nausea, and diarrhea.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to secukinumab or any component of the formulation; active infections, including tuberculosis; and history of inflammatory bowel disease.

Important Warnings

Risk of serious infections; monitor for signs and symptoms of infection. May increase the risk of malignancies. Live vaccines should be avoided during treatment. Patients should be screened for tuberculosis prior to initiation of therapy.
