Use: | Aflibercept (EYLEA) is used for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO), diabetic macular edema (DME), and diabetic retinopathy (DR).

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
For wet AMD, DME, and DR: 2 mg (0.05 mL) administered by intravitreal injection every 4 weeks (monthly) for the first 5 injections, followed by 2 mg (0.05 mL) once every 8 weeks (2 months). For macular edema following RVO: 2 mg (0.05 mL) every 4 weeks (monthly).
Pediatric Dose
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established.
Side Effects
Common side effects include conjunctival hemorrhage, eye pain, cataract, vitreous detachment, increased intraocular pressure, and vitreous floaters.
Contraindications & Precautions
Contraindicated in patients with ocular or periocular infections, active intraocular inflammation, or known hypersensitivity to aflibercept or any of the excipients.
Important Warnings
Intravitreal injections, including those with aflibercept, have been associated with endophthalmitis and retinal detachment. Increases in intraocular pressure have been noted within 60 minutes of injection. Use with caution in patients with a history of stroke or myocardial infarction.
