About Aminophylline
Class: | Xanthine derivative, Bronchodilator
Use: | Treatment of bronchospasm associated with asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema; also used in the management of acute asthma attacks
Adult dose: | 250 mg to 500 mg (5 to 10 ml) IV infusion over 20 to 30 minutes; may repeat every 6 to 12 hours as needed, not to exceed 1,200 mg/day
Pediatric dose: | 5 to 6 mg/kg IV loading dose, followed by 2 to 3 mg/kg IV every 6 to 8 hours; maximum daily dose should not exceed adult dosing

Dosage Information
