Uses & Indications

Famotidine (ASIAMODIN) 20 mg Tablets are used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and conditions that cause excessive stomach acid production such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used for the relief of heartburn and indigestion.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

The standard adult dosing for GERD is 20 mg twice daily or 40 mg once daily at bedtime. For active duodenal ulcers, the dose is 40 mg once daily at bedtime. Maintenance therapy for duodenal ulcers is typically 20 mg once daily at bedtime.

Pediatric Dose

For children aged 1 to 16 years with GERD, the dose is 0.5 mg/kg/dose twice daily, not to exceed 40 mg/day. For peptic ulcer disease, the dose is 0.5 mg/kg/dose once daily at bedtime, not to exceed 40 mg/day.

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, and fatigue. Less common side effects may include dry mouth, nausea, and abdominal pain.

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindications include hypersensitivity to famotidine or other H2 receptor antagonists. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustments may be necessary.

Important Warnings
