Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Initial: 0.1 mg orally at bedtime; may increase by 0.1 mg increments every 2-4 weeks as needed; usual maintenance dose: 0.2 to 0.6 mg/day in divided doses.

Pediatric Dose

For ADHD: 0.1 mg orally at bedtime; may increase by 0.1 mg increments weekly; usual dose range: 0.1 to 0.4 mg/day in divided doses.

Side Effects

Drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, fatigue, dizziness, hypotension, bradycardia, and rebound hypertension upon abrupt discontinuation.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to clonidine or any component of the formulation; severe coronary insufficiency; advanced heart block; concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

Important Warnings

Risk of severe hypotension, bradycardia, and CNS depression; caution in patients with a history of depression or cardiovascular disease; do not discontinue abruptly to avoid rebound hypertension.
