About Ephedrine Sulfate
Class: | Sympathomimetic amine
Use: | Treatment of bronchospasm in asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema; management of hypotension during anesthesia; as a nasal decongestant; and for the treatment of certain types of cardiac arrest.
Adult dose: | 5 to 10 mg (0.5 to 1 mL of 1:1000 solution) subcutaneously or intramuscularly every 4 to 6 hours as needed; maximum daily dose should not exceed 50 mg.
Pediatric dose: | 0.1 to 0.3 mg/kg (up to 5 mg) subcutaneously or intramuscularly every 4 to 6 hou

Dosage Information
Adult Dose

Side Effects

Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to ephedrine or any component of the formulation; severe hypertension; severe coronary artery disease; hyperthyroidism; and during or within 14 days of MAO inhibitor therapy.
Important Warnings
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism; may cause significant cardiovascular effects; monitor blood pressure and heart rate closely during administration.
