About Epoetin Alfa (EPOTIN)

Use: | Treatment of anemia due to chronic kidney disease, chemotherapy-induced anemia, and anemia in HIV-infected patients on zidovudine therapy.
Adult dose: | 50 to 100 IU/kg subcutaneously or intravenously 3 times weekly, adjusted based on hemoglobin levels.
Pediatric dose: | 50 to 100 IU/kg subcutaneously or intravenously 3 times weekly, adjusted based on hemoglobin levels; safety and efficacy not established in children under 1 year.

Dosage Information

Contraindications & Precautions
Uncontrolled hypertension, pure red cell aplasia following previous treatment with Epoetin Alfa, and hypersensitivity to Epoetin Alfa or any component of the formulation.
Important Warnings
Risk of serious cardiovascular events, including thromboembolic events; monitor hemoglobin levels regularly; do not exceed recommended hemoglobin levels (generally >11 g/dL).
