About Eptifibatide

Use: | Eptifibatide is used to reduce the risk of acute cardiac ischemic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Adult dose: | For ACS: Initial bolus of 180 mcg/kg IV, followed by a continuous infusion of 2 mcg/kg/min. For PCI: An additional bolus of 180 mcg/kg IV is given 10 minutes after the first bolus, followed by a continuous infusion of 2 mcg/

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
For ACS: Initial bolus of 180 mcg/kg IV, followed by a continuous infusion of 2 mcg/kg/min. For PCI: An additional bolus of 180 mcg/kg IV is given 10 minutes after the first bolus, followed by a continuous infusion of 2 mcg/kg/min for up to 18-24 hours post-PCI.
Pediatric Dose
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established; therefore, no standard pediatric dosing is available.
Side Effects
Common side effects include bleeding, hypotension, thrombocytopenia, and nausea.
Contraindications & Precautions
Contraindicated in patients with active internal bleeding, a history of bleeding diathesis, severe uncontrolled hypertension, major surgery or trauma within the past 6 weeks, or a history of stroke within 30 days or any history of hemorrhagic stroke.
Important Warnings
Monitor for signs of bleeding, especially in patients with renal impairment or those receiving other anticoagulants. Use with caution in patients with a history of bleeding disorders or thrombocytopenia.
