Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to alendronate or any component of the formulation, esophageal abnormalities that delay esophageal emptying (e.g., stricture or achalasia), inability to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes, and hypocalcemia.
Important Warnings
Risk of esophageal irritation, ulceration, and erosion; must be taken with a full glass of water and not lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking. Risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, particularly in cancer patients, and atypical femoral fractures. Monitor renal function prior to and during treatment.
