Use: | Isoniazid is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis (TB). It is often part of a combination therapy for active TB and used alone for latent TB infection.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose

Side Effects
Common side effects include peripheral neuropathy, elevated liver enzymes, fatigue, nausea, and rash. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is often co-administered to prevent neuropathy.
Contraindications & Precautions
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to isoniazid or any component of the formulation, and in those with acute liver disease or previous isoniazid-associated hepatic injury.
Important Warnings
Isoniazid can cause severe and sometimes fatal hepatitis. Risk is age-related and increases with alcohol consumption and concurrent use of other hepatotoxic drugs. Monitor liver function tests regularly. Use with caution in patients with chronic liver disease, alcohol dependence, or those who are pregnant.
