Use: | Treatment of diarrhea, particularly in cases of acute diarrhea and gastrointestinal disturbances
Adult dose: | 750 mg orally, up to 3 times daily as needed; do not exceed 4.5 g per day
Pediatric dose: | Not recommended for children under 12 years; for children 12 years and older, 750 mg orally, up to 3 times daily as needed
Side effects: | Constipation, abdominal discomfort, nausea, dry mouth
