About Atovaquone

Use: | Treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) in immunocompromised patients, particularly those with HIV/AIDS.
Adult dose: | 750 mg (5 ml) orally twice daily for 21 days for treatment; 1500 mg (10 ml) orally once daily for prophylaxis.
Pediatric dose: | 30 mg/kg/day (up to 750 mg) divided into two doses for treatment; 1500 mg/m²/day (up to 750 mg) for prophylaxis.
