Dosage Information

Adult Dose

0.4 mg to 2 mg IV, IM, or subcutaneously; may repeat every 2 to 3 minutes as needed, up to a total of 10 mg. If no response after 10 mg, consider alternative diagnosis.

Pediatric Dose

For children, the recommended dose is 0.1 mg/kg IV, IM, or subcutaneously; may repeat every 2 to 3 minutes as needed, up to a maximum of 2 mg.

Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, sweating, increased heart rate, and agitation.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to naloxone or any component of the formulation. Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.

Important Warnings
