Dosage Information

Adult Dose

40 mg once daily, typically for up to 8 weeks for GERD and erosive esophagitis. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, dosing may vary and should be individualized.

Pediatric Dose

For children 5 years and older with GERD: 20 mg once daily for those weighing 15 kg to less than 40 kg, and 40 mg once daily for those weighing 40 kg or more.

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, dizziness, and joint pain.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to pantoprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any component of the formulation. Caution in patients with severe liver impairment.

Important Warnings

Long-term use may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and increased risk of bone fractures. Use with caution in patients with a history of osteoporosis. Potential for Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
