Uses & Indications

Treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn's disease in adults; also indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in pediatric patients aged 6 years and older.

Storage Requirements

Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Do not freeze. If necessary, it may be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for a maximum of 30 days.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Initial dose: 90 mg subcutaneously (SC) at week 0 and week 4; Maintenance dose: 90 mg SC every 12 weeks thereafter. For Crohn's disease, initial dose: 260 mg (for patients >100 kg) or 130 mg (for patients ≤100 kg) at week 0, followed by 90 mg SC every 8 weeks.

Pediatric Dose

For plaque psoriasis in patients aged 6 years and older: Initial dose: 0.75 mg/kg (up to a maximum of 45 mg) SC at week 0 and week 4; Maintenance dose: 0.75 mg/kg SC every 12 weeks (up to a maximum of 45 mg).

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, fatigue, injection site reactions, upper respiratory infections, and nausea.

Contraindications & Precautions

Known hypersensitivity to ustekinumab or any component of the formulation; active infections, including tuberculosis (TB).

Important Warnings

Increased risk of serious infections; monitor for signs of infection; may cause reactivation of latent tuberculosis; risk of malignancies; caution in patients with a history of recurrent infections or underlying conditions that predispose to infections.
