About Suxamethonium Chloride

Use: | Induction of neuromuscular blockade for intubation and surgical procedures
Adult dose: | 0.6 to 1.5 mg/kg IV; may be repeated as necessary, with onset of action within 30-60 seconds and duration of 5-10 minutes
Pediatric dose: | 1-2 mg/kg IV; similar onset and duration as in adults
Side effects: | Muscle fasciculations, postoperative muscle pain, bradycardia, increased intraocular pressure, hyperkalemia
