Dosage Information

Adult Dose

The standard adult dose is 0.4 mg orally once daily, approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day. If there is no adequate response after 2 to 4 weeks, the dose may be increased to 0.8 mg once daily.

Pediatric Dose

Tamsulosin is not indicated for use in pediatric patients.

Side Effects

Common side effects include dizziness, headache, insomnia, rhinitis, abnormal ejaculation, and back pain.

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to tamsulosin or any component of the product. Caution is advised in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Important Warnings

Tamsulosin may cause orthostatic hypotension, leading to dizziness or fainting, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Patients should be cautioned about driving or operating machinery until they know how the medication affects them. There is a risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome during cataract surgery in patients treated with tamsulosin.
