Uses & Indications

Treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as adjuvant treatment; also used for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma and anaplastic astrocytoma.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

Initial dose of 75 mg/m²/day for 42 days during radiotherapy; followed by 150 mg/m²/day to 200 mg/m²/day for 5 days every 28 days for up to 12 cycles.

Pediatric Dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients; use is generally not recommended.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, constipation, dizziness, and myelosuppression (including thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, and anemia).

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to temozolomide or any component of the formulation; pregnancy (Category D); active infections; severe myelosuppression.

Important Warnings

Risk of myelosuppression; monitor complete blood counts regularly; potential for secondary malignancies; use with caution in patients with a history of bone marrow suppression; avoid use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
