About Terbutaline Sulfate
Class: | Bronchodilator (Beta-2 adrenergic agonist)
Use: | Management of bronchial asthma, bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other conditions requiring bronchodilation.
Adult dose: | 2.5 to 5 mg (1.67 to 3.33 mL of syrup) every 6 to 8 hours as needed, not to exceed 15 mg (10 mL) in 24 hours.
Pediatric dose: | For children aged 12 years and older: 2.5 to 5 mg (1.67 to 3.33 mL of syrup) every 6 to 8 hours as needed. For children aged 6 to 12 years

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
2.5 to 5 mg (1.67 to 3.33 mL of syrup) every 6 to 8 hours as needed, not to exceed 15 mg (10 mL) in 24 hours.
Pediatric Dose
For children aged 12 years and older: 2.5 to 5 mg (1.67 to 3.33 mL of syrup) every 6 to 8 hours as needed. For children aged 6 to 12 years: 1.25 to 2.5 mg (0.83 to 1.67 mL of syrup) every 6 to 8 hours as needed.
Side Effects
Tremors, nervousness, headache, dizziness, palpitations, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, and muscle cramps.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to terbutaline or any component of the formulation; use in patients with tachyarrhythmias or severe hypertension; caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or seizure disorders.
Important Warnings
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism. Not recommended for use in patients with a history of seizures. Long-term use may lead to tolerance; monitor for decreased effectiveness.
