Dosage Information

Adult Dose

0.3 to 0.5 mg (0.3 to 0.5 mL of a 1:1000 solution) intramuscularly every 5 to 15 minutes as needed for anaphylaxis; for cardiac arrest, 1 mg (10 mL of a 1:10,000 solution) intravenously every 3 to 5 minutes during resuscitation

Pediatric Dose

For anaphylaxis, 0.01 mg/kg (0.01 mL/kg of a 1:1000 solution) intramuscularly, maximum 0.3 mg per dose; for cardiac arrest, 0.01 mg/kg (0.1 mL/kg of a 1:10,000 solution) intravenously every 3 to 5 minutes

Palpitations, anxiety, tremors, headache, dizziness, hypertension, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to epinephrine or any component of the formulation; narrow-angle glaucoma; shock (other than anaphylactic); use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes

Important Warnings

May cause severe hypertension and arrhythmias; monitor cardiovascular status; use caution in patients with pre-existing heart conditions; avoid extravasation during IV administration to prevent tissue necrosis
