Dosage Information

Adult Dose

The standard adult dose is 500 mg on the first day, followed by 250 mg once daily on days 2 through 5. Alternatively, a single dose of 1,000 mg or 2,000 mg may be used for certain infections.

Pediatric Dose

For children, the dose is typically 10 mg/kg on the first day, followed by 5 mg/kg on days 2 through 5. The total dose should not exceed the adult dose.

Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache.

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide or ketolide antibiotic. Use with caution in patients with liver disease or severe renal impairment.

Important Warnings
