About Entacapone
Class: Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor
Use: Adjunctive treatment in Parkinson's disease to enhance the effect of levodopa/carbidopa
Adult dose: 200 mg with each dose of levodopa/carbidopa, up to a maximum of 8 times daily
Pediatric dose: Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients
Side effects: Dyskinesia, nausea, diarrhea, urine discoloration, abdominal pain, fatigue
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to entacapone or any component of the formulation, pheo
