About Ephedrine Hydrochloride
Class: | Sympathomimetic amine
Use: | Treatment of bronchospasm, hypotension during anesthesia, and as a nasal decongestant
Adult dose: | 5 to 10 mg (0.5 to 1 mL of 50 mg/mL solution) IV or IM every 4 to 6 hours as needed
Pediatric dose: | 0.1 to 0.3 mg/kg IV or IM every 4 to 6 hours as needed; not to exceed 5 mg per dose
Side effects: | Tachycardia, hypertension, palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, headache, nausea, vomiting
Contraindications: | Severe hypertension, severe coronary arter
