About Abiraterone Acetate
Class: | Antineoplastic agent, androgen biosynthesis inhibitor
Use: | Treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) in combination with prednisone; also indicated for treatment of high-risk metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) in combination with androgen deprivation therapy.
Adult dose: | 1000 mg (four 250 mg tablets) once daily, taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal), in combination with prednisone 5 mg daily.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose

Important Warnings
May cause serious liver toxicity; monitor liver function tests prior to and during treatment. Risk of mineralocorticoid excess; monitor blood pressure, potassium levels, and fluid retention. Not recommended for use in women, particularly during pregnancy or breastfeeding, due to potential harm to the fetus or infant.
