About Alteplase

Use: | Treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), acute ischemic stroke, and pulmonary embolism (PE)
Adult dose: | For AMI: 15 mg IV bolus, followed by 0.75 mg/kg IV infusion over 30 minutes (maximum 50 mg), then 0.5 mg/kg IV infusion over 60 minutes (maximum 35 mg); for ischemic stroke: 0.9 mg/kg IV (maximum 90 mg), with 10% given as a bolus over 1 minute, followed by 90% as an infusion over 60 minutes; for PE: 100 mg IV over 2 hours

Contraindications & Precautions
Active internal bleeding, history of hemorrhagic stroke, recent surgery or trauma, severe uncontrolled hypertension, known hypersensitivity to alteplase or any component of the formulation
Important Warnings
Risk of serious bleeding; monitor for signs of bleeding; avoid use in patients with recent major surgery, trauma, or bleeding disorders; use caution in patients with a history of hypertension or recent anticoagulant therapy
