Dosage Information
Adult Dose
The standard adult dose is 10 mg once daily, with or without food.
Pediatric Dose
Ezetimibe is not recommended for use in pediatric patients under 10 years of age. For children aged 10 to 17 years, the recommended dose is 10 mg once daily.
Side Effects
Common side effects include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, and muscle pain.
Contraindications & Precautions
Ezetimibe is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminases. It should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to the drug or any of its components.
Important Warnings
Ezetimibe may cause liver enzyme elevations; liver function tests should be monitored. Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with muscle disorders, as it may increase the risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis, especially when used with statins.
