Dosage Information
Adult Dose
The standard adult dose is 10 mg once daily, with or without food.
Pediatric Dose
For children aged 10 years and older, the recommended dose is 10 mg once daily. Safety and efficacy in children under 10 years have not been established.
Side Effects
Common side effects include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, and muscle pain.
Contraindications & Precautions
Ezetimibe is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, including unexplained persistent elevations of hepatic transaminase levels, and in those who are hypersensitive to the drug or any of its components.
Important Warnings
Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment. Monitor liver function tests periodically. Ezetimibe should not be used in combination with statins in patients with active liver disease. Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis may be increased when used with statins.
