About Denosumab

Use: | Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fracture, treatment of osteoporosis in men at high risk for fracture, prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors, and treatment of giant cell tumor of bone.
Adult dose: | 60 mg subcutaneously once every 6 months for osteoporosis; 120 mg subcutaneously once every month for bone metastases; 120 mg subcutaneously once every 4 week

Uses & Indications

Storage Requirements
Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F); do not freeze. Can be kept at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for up to 30 days prior to use.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
60 mg subcutaneously once every 6 months for osteoporosis; 120 mg subcutaneously once every month for bone metastases; 120 mg subcutaneously once every 4 weeks for giant cell tumor of bone.
Pediatric Dose
Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients; not recommended for use in children.
Side Effects
Back pain, pain in extremity, hypercholesterolemia, hypocalcemia, musculoskeletal pain, and skin reactions at the injection site.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypocalcemia, hypersensitivity to denosumab or any component of the formulation, and pregnancy (category X).
Important Warnings
Risk of serious infections, osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), atypical femoral fractures, and hypocalcemia; patients should be assessed for hypocalcemia prior to initiation and monitored during treatment.
