Uses & Indications

Prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors; treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fracture; treatment of giant cell tumor of bone.

Storage Requirements

Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F); do not freeze; protect from light; may be kept at room temperature (up to 25°C or 77°F) for up to 14 days.

Dosage Information

Adult Dose

120 mg subcutaneously every 4 weeks for bone metastases; 60 mg subcutaneously every 6 months for osteoporosis; 120 mg subcutaneously on days 1, 8, 15, and 29, then every 28 days for giant cell tumor of bone.

Pediatric Dose

Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients; not recommended for use in children.

Side Effects

Hypocalcemia, osteonecrosis of the jaw, infections, skin reactions, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and musculoskeletal pain.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypocalcemia; hypersensitivity to denosumab or any component of the formulation; pregnancy (Category X).

Important Warnings

Risk of serious infections, including skin infections; osteonecrosis of the jaw; hypocalcemia; monitor calcium levels prior to and during treatment; ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake.
