About Metoclopramide Hydrochloride

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
10 mg administered intravenously or intramuscularly up to three times daily, depending on the indication and clinical response
Pediatric Dose
For children aged 1-18 years, 0.1-0.15 mg/kg per dose, administered intravenously or intramuscularly, up to three times daily; maximum dose should not exceed 10 mg per dose
Side Effects
Drowsiness, fatigue, restlessness, headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and extrapyramidal symptoms such as tardive dyskinesia
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to metoclopramide; pheochromocytoma; epilepsy; gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation; history of tardive dyskinesia with metoclopramide use
Important Warnings
Risk of tardive dyskinesia with prolonged use; avoid treatment durations longer than 12 weeks; caution in patients with a history of depression; monitor for signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome; use with caution in patients with renal impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary
