Dosage Information

Adult Dose

8 mg administered orally 1 hour before chemotherapy, followed by 8 mg every 12 hours for 1-2 days after chemotherapy; for postoperative nausea, 16 mg orally 1 hour before anesthesia

Pediatric Dose

For children aged 4 years and older, 4 mg orally 30 minutes before chemotherapy, followed by 4 mg every 4-6 hours as needed (maximum 8 mg/day); for postoperative nausea, 0.1 mg/kg (up to 4 mg) 1 hour before anesthesia

Side Effects

Headache, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, and diarrhea

Contraindications & Precautions

Known hypersensitivity to ondansetron or any component of the formulation; caution in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte imbalances
