About Rituximab
Class: | Monoclonal antibody (anti-CD20)
Use: | Treatment of certain types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and rheumatoid arthritis in combination with methotrexate.
Adult dose: | Initial dose of 375 mg/m² IV on day 1, followed by 500 mg/m² IV on day 8 for lymphoma; for CLL, 375 mg/m² IV on day 1 of the first cycle, then 500 mg/m² IV on day 1 of subsequent cycles. For rheumatoid arthritis, 1000 mg IV on days 1 and 15, then every 24 weeks.

Dosage Information

Side Effects
Infusion-related reactions, infections, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, fatigue, nausea, and rash.
Contraindications & Precautions
Known hypersensitivity to rituximab or any component of the formulation; active severe infections; and history of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).
Important Warnings
Risk of severe infusion reactions, infections (including PML), and tumor lysis syndrome. Monitor for signs of infection and infusion-related reactions. Pre-medication with antihistamines and acetaminophen is recommended.
