About Cilastatin Sodium,Imipenem Monohydrate
Class: | Carbapenem antibiotic (Imipenem) and dehydropeptidase inhibitor (Cilastatin)
Use: | Treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and pneumonia.
Adult dose: | 500 mg of Imipenem and 500 mg of Cilastatin administered intravenously every 6 to 8 hours, depending on the severity of the infection.
Pediatric dose: | For children over 3 months: 15-25 mg/kg of Imipenem and 15

Storage Requirements
Store at room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F) in a dry place. Reconstituted solutions should be used immediately or stored at 2-8°C (36-46°F) for up to 24 hours.

Dosage Information
Adult Dose
500 mg of Imipenem and 500 mg of Cilastatin administered intravenously every 6 to 8 hours, depending on the severity of the infection.
Pediatric Dose
For children over 3 months: 15-25 mg/kg of Imipenem and 15-25 mg/kg of Cilastatin every 6 to 8 hours, not to exceed 2 g/day.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, headache, and potential for seizures, especially in patients with renal impairment.
Contraindications & Precautions
Known hypersensitivity to Imipenem, Cilastatin, or other beta-lactam antibiotics; history of seizures; and severe renal impairment without appropriate dose adjustment.
Important Warnings
Risk of seizures, particularly in patients with CNS disorders or renal impairment; potential for Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea; and caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy.
